Togetherness and Separateness

I find a balance of togetherness and separateness in my relationships.

I enjoy teamwork and creating a united front with my partner, as well as experiencing my freedom and individuality. I recognize that our ideas will often align; however, at other times, they will demonstrate our differences.

I support our unique desires and thoughts by making room for both togetherness and separateness to exist. Our schedule, as well as our space, honors our individual aspirations and our joint goals. I make requests about the structure of our schedule that meet my needs, while at the same time releasing the expectations that my partner will always accommodate me. Knowing we are both adults, I seek to respect my partner's power of choice through inquiry and empowerment in this time of adjustment.

From a place of mutual empowerment, I am confident we will find solutions for our family that value each of our needs.

Tip: As you reorganize your routine and schedule to meet the requirement of a stay at home order or quarantine, strive to make sure that each person in your home has free time in which they determine their own activity. It is essential, especially now when we feel such a lack of control, that we experience the freedom to be ourselves.

On the other hand, even though you may think, "we are always together," consider designating intentional quality couple time and family time. Have children help create the routine so that they may also experience some sense of control and investment in new activities.

I am currently offering HIPPA-compliant video conferencing for individuals and couples. Couples are experiencing these video sessions to be a supportive method of accessing communication coaching in the comfort of their home. To schedule, call me at (816) 359-1885.
