Repeatedly doing the same thing gets us the same results. Soothe

I am valuable and capable to bring love and peace to this current interaction.

It is soothing to reassure myself that I am valuable and capable of bringing love and peace to any interaction. No matter how another person’s anxiety may be presenting, whether it seems to be a personal attack on me or not, I resolve to remain calm and bring love to the situation. I do this by staying grounded in my own value and knowledge that all people want to be loved and understood.

I assure myself I can be that presence of love by patiently listening and focusing on extending love to the other person. I am able to be a calm and responsive person because I soothe myself throughout the day. I do this by holding kind positive thoughts about myself, having realistic expectations of myself, and prioritizing my own self-care. I love myself and therefore easily extend that love to others.

Tip:  In order to be soothing to others, make sure to be soothing to yourself. Reflect on your willingness to take care of yourself.

  • Do you respond and follow through on your own need for rest, nutritious food, relaxation, quiet reflection, fun, exercise, and so forth?
  • Are you recognizing when the tension is building in your body or the overwhelm in your mind?

If not, identify ways you can learn to soothe yourself and reestablish a calm relaxed emotional and mental state throughout your day. In Individual Therapy, you receive expert guidance and practice using tools like self-soothing, positive self-talk, and self-care. If you are interested in scheduling an individual session or an Imago Relationship Session, please call me at 816-359-1885.
