Begin to make the shifts that lead to the close, connected relationships you long to experience. Work with the theme and affirmation below. Take time to experience the word and take in the affirmation. Living from these concepts is not always easy. The words and affirmations are designed to help you become more aware and intentional in your relationships.

Affection

I freely convey my love in my close relationships through affection.

I use affection to convey my love for those closest to me and create a feeling of predictability and security in my relationships. I stay grounded in my love for my family and friends through terms of endearment and affectionate touch. Whether it is a hug or a pat on the back, each time we separate and each time we reunite, I seek to convey my love. Despite any issues or concerns within my relationships, I affirm the importance of those I love with daily expressions of affection. The nature of the issues we are currently sorting out does not change the love I have for them. I keep the relationships feeling secure through the consistency of my affection.

Tip:  Create routines of fondly separating and reuniting from and with your family and friends. When you leave in the morning or say goodnight at the end of the day, extend the extra effort to wish them a relaxed and happy day or a night of sweet dreams. When you come home in the evening, make it a priority to directly connect with those in your household by exchanging a smile, hug, kiss, and/or inquiry about their day. It is these little moments that help both our loved ones and us to feel connected and supported as we face the numerous stressors of daily life.
